OK this might only be of interest to railway
buffs, but Lime Street Station has some interesting
features. Construction of the station started
in 1833 and opened to the public in 1836.
Because of rapid expansion the station had to
be extended by 1842 and decision was made to install
a full iron roof supported on iron columns which
were sited between the track. The roof was completed
in 1849 and can still be seen today.
many of the architectural feature are still evident
and worth a look.
